The NIH electronic Research Administration (eRA) hosts the iEdison website as part of its grant management platform. The iEdison website is used for invention and patent reporting by government agency offices that award grant funds.

Objective

Upgrade an old and outdated system that was built on a 1990’s Oracle Forms framework to the modern Java based technology stack. Integrate the modernized iEdison website with the rest of the eRA infrastructure to improve client’s ability to support and implement enhancements.

Solution

Achievion devised a migration path and oversaw the delivery process that made the iEdison application an integral part of eRA systems portfolio. The SOA based solution enabled reuse of existing eRA components and cut down on the project timeline by 20%.

The result was a modernized iEdison application that significantly lowered annual maintenance costs and empowered the organization to deliver long-awaited features to users.
