AI Assistant for Architectural Specification Writing
AI solution demonstrated that large language models can meaningfully assist in the architectural specification process.
Client
Innovative technology startup focused on modernizing the architectural specification writing process through AI. Founded by experienced professionals in architecture and construction, the company aims to reduce inefficiencies and improve the quality of spec writing by leveraging intelligent software tools.
Objective
The primary goal was to explore how modern LLMs can assist in creating architectural specifications by offering interactive, context-aware support to users. The client sought to assess whether AI could streamline and improve the traditionally manual, template-driven process.
Solution
Achievion developed the initial version of the software that brought the client’s vision to life. Our team:
Conducted discovery sessions and analyzed current specification workflows.
Developed the AI Assistant using Streamlit for UI and a combination of OpenAI’s ChatGPT API and Amazon Bedrock’s Claude for backend AI processing.
Trained and fine tuned LLMs based on historical documentation provided by the client’s firm.
Focused on assisting users with specification template sections by resolving ambiguities, prompting for clarification, and integrating user feedback.
Designed a flexible, AI-driven document assistant capable of adapting to different document types.
Result
The tool successfully demonstrated that large language models can meaningfully assist in the architectural specification process, validating the core concept behind client’s platform. These outcomes helped refine the product vision, informed the path toward next iteration development, and sparked ideas for future enhancements such as document referencing, context-aware interactions, and integration with broader architectural workflows.
