iEdison website is used for invention and patent reporting by government agency offices that award grant funds. The NIH electronic Research Administration (eRA) hosts this application as part of its grants management platform.

The iEdison web application was originally developed by an external entity and was handed to NIH eRA for maintenance and support. This system was build on a 1990’s technology stack which was completely different from the one used at eRA. Incompatible technology mix made ongoing support and enhancement very difficult pushing clients feature requests months down the line.

Achievion Solutions proposed a migration path that made the iEdison application an integral part of eRA systems portfolio. Our personnel developed a project management plan that allowed client to keep a big picture in mind and track the project progress. SOA based solution enabled reuse of existing eRA components and cut down on the project timeline by 20%. The modernized iEdison significantly reduced annual maintenance costs and empowered the organization to deliver features that users have been expecting for years.
